Vaginal Tearing/ripping prevention?

I've been hearing a lot about how FTM's typically will tear or rip during labor. Any tips on how to prevent that? What is the recovery like if that happens? Eek! It just sounds awful! 😭

Look up evening primrose oil...its supposed to help you dilate & soften, & also softens perineum. Lots of women say they didn't tear at all. I've been inserting 2 500mg capsules up my cooch daily for the past 2 weeks ☺

Listen to the doctors when you're delivering. The more controlled you are the better. If you're able to slow it down as baby is coming out and not push when they say don't push it helps A LOT

I tore through my anal sphincter muscle with my first. I was rushing pushing, dr did an episiotomy to a 2nd degree and I tore to a 4th degree. Remember it's not a race, try to be as controlled as possible pushing, and listen to your dr! I just wanted him out and wish I would have paced myself and refused the episiotomy.

The recovery was worse then any surgery or the actual event of childbirth to me. I sat on ice packs for almost 2 months and sex was extremely uncomfortable at first because I had nerve damage from the tear and felt  like my husband was in my butt and not my vagina. After first couple months after it healed and things went back to normal but I also had to take narcotics for the pain and I have an insanely high pain tolerance.

Yes. Having your baby naturally will eliminate this.  I didn't have one tear with my first.  And she was 8.3 pounds and I am not large at all.  Extremely fit.

I tore with my first, and scar tissue doesn't have any give so of course I tore with my 2nd. Using evening primrose oil with #3 in hopes that it will help. It's really not bad, just the first week or so.

With my second daughter, the nurse used a little baby shampoo and massaged and stretched my perineum & vaginal opening for several minutes before I started pushing. Sounds odd but it worked; didn't tear nor did Dr have to cut!

I've had to be cut with all three of mine, recovery always went well I had daily salt baths & always kept the area dry it does itch later when the stitches start dissolving though.

You'll get very itchy . But it's not that bad depending on if you're cut or rip badly . Being cut is wayy more common than you think .
