Starting BC

My SO and I have been having sex more often. We use a condom everytime and he always pulls out too. I want to start on birth control as a second defense. I don't want to bring it up to my parents and I'm nervous about going to the doctor to talk to her about it. Before I do I want a little I'm put. I'm more comfortable with getting my period so I have a little more notification like " hey girl you're good you're not pregnant yet" I'm also worried about not remembering when to take a pill. Any help would be great. Thanks ladies.
