MC? Confused about my doctor's office...

Question

I am so confused and feel like I'm stuck in limbo. My bleeding started last Tuesday. My doctor sent me to the hospital on Wednesday for an US where everything looked normal. Heartbeat of 132. However, I haven't stopped bleeding. When I called to check in on Friday they told me to take it easy and go to the hospital if I had severe cramps or very heavy bleeding over the weekend. But I haven't had any of that. Just mild, intermittent cramping and bleeding like I'm having a period.
After reading stories of other people, I'm surprised that they didn't send me for additional blood work. I am planning to call again in the morning, but am I being unreasonable to expect them to be doing more? At this point I would really like another ultrasound to see what in the world is going on. That way at least I would know if the baby is still hanging in there, or if I should be waiting for a full miscarriage.

For those of you who have been through this process, how did your doctor or midwife handle testing and follow-up appointments?

I haven't been in that exact situation, but I have had 2 losses. You're not being unreasonable in wanting them to follow up especially if you're still bleeding. I would call the office, remind them of the situation, tell them you have not stopped bleeding..."I would like to schedule a follow up scan and blood work". As a nurse, don't leave it up to them. Tell them what you want and be direct about it. And go from there. If they are adamant that you don't need to come in unless you start cramping, then I would go to the ER. I'm not one to suggest going to the ER for non-emergent situations, but I know how the waiting and not knowing messes with your head. In this case, it's worth it just to know what's going on. Hope you get to be seen by your OB and I hope you get reassurance. 💗

Definitely tell them what you want. I was told to go in if I had severe cramping or lots of blood loss, but when I miscarried, I never had any cramps. It took me about 3 days of spotting and one period like day before I really started bleeding, but I never had a scan until after my major bleeding. I hope everything works out for you and remember that some women tend to have some period like bleeding in their early pregnancy.
