Has anyone had a GOOD (or at least not terrible) experience taking the pills to help miscarriage start?

All I've heard are horror stories. I plan to ask for a D&C tomorrow but want to make sure I'm not missing something. (My body isn't doing it naturally).

I took Arthrotec 50mg 3x daily for 4 days..orally.. (Because my body wasnt doing it naturally) I had alot of cramping and minimal bleeding but on the 4th day, I had active labour pains (I know it was labour cause I had it with my daughter)..Thankfully, labour lasted only 30 ish mins and after I passed baby and the placenta, the pain stopped...Then I had alot of bleeding after..Frankly , I expected it to be much worse but I got through it without pain meds..But everyone is different..Just thought I'll share my experience..All the best hun and sorry for your loss..

I took the pills and it was definitely not as bad as I was expecting. Keep in mind though that I only had a small amount of retained tissue (an incomplete miscarriage), so I only had some cramping and an increase in bleeding. My doc talked about the pros and cons of both, and had told me that if the misoprostol didn't work then we would do a D&C. So, I would really discuss it with your doc if you're having questions or misgivings, because they can help calm some of your fears.

Sorry have never tried the pills but I have tried 2 D&C's and 1 natural and I would personally prefer the D&C.

I took the pills.  The pain was no fun,  and the bleeding was gross....but it worked.... And it was natural... and for me that was what I wanted.  Ive heard too many storied if implanting issues after botched d&c's (but I work for a reproductive  endocrinologist.... So I hear ALL the horror stories).  Just make a decision you are comfortable  with... And know that the pain (emotional and physical) is only temporary.  Good luck to you.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

I took the pills on Friday and it was the most excruciating thing I ever experienced. I was 7weeks and 6 days and the heart stopped beating. I would NEVER do the pills again. The doc didn't stress how horrible it would be which is why I picked the pills over D&C.  I threw up so much I thought I was going to choke. I was taking Tylenol 3 with codeine and even had a heating pad and I still felt like someone shot me!!! It was horrible. I don't recommend it to anyone. Along with the emotional pain of miscarriage this was not the extra pain I deserved!

I took the pills and the experience was good for me. I took misoprostal. I was 12 weeks but baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. I miscarried the next morning after the pills. I had horrible cramps but my doctor gave me pain killers and a heating pad. The bleeding stopped around 2 weeks and my period returned around 6 weeks post miscarriage. I went back every week to monitor my levels going down.

I had a natural miscarriage at 5 weeks, then got pregnant again, the baby was showing no heartbeat at 8 weeks and was called a missed miscarriage, by 10 weeks still no natural progression the doctor gave me oral cytotec and my labor started I passed the baby and some tissue early the next morning after the second dosage...however after bleeding for 22 days, all the tissue still hadn't passed I ended up with a DnC anyhow just 2 days ago. Prayers for you sweetie just tell your doctor what you want and expect all of it is hard and a little painful...I know your heart is broken too.. I'm sorry for your loss!

I took a second dose of pills at 330 am. All I had was some light cramping and discharge after first dose yesterday and i got sick from eating too much at dinner (1/2 a can of soup, but okay, body). Needless to say it wasn't a bad experience....but it also hasn't worked yet for me. ..contacting Dr later today to see what to do as I feel nothing now...

Im sorry for your loss Becca. I took the oral pills just under 2 weeks ago. I should have been nearly 13 weeks but baby had died at just under 9- missed miscarriage. Took the pills around 4 in the afternoon and was sent home with some paracetamol and some more powerful painkillers should I have needed them. By around 1am I had miscarried. Cramping and lot of heavy bleeding at the time however after I just seemed to have light bleeding then spotting for around a week after. I was able to manage on just the paracetamol I think mostly cos it happened so quickly for me. Like you had heard a lot of horror stories and although an awful experience in general I had expected far worse. Hope this helps you
