Can hillbilly of redneck be something that your child has in them?

When someone asks you what  you have in you. I am 25% polish  and a bunch of others.. What are considered  Ethnicities /origins? My i laws say they have in them say etc: Dutch, German, Polish, Scottish, hillbilly.. It makes me so upset when mil adds the last one. U can't be hillbilly or Redneck by blood that's just an orgin of the south/ trait that you inquire. The more years that pass the more I'm wondering if anyone else feels this way and I am wrong. Sorry if this ? Sounds stupid but now I am determined to fiind the answer.

Hillbilly and redneck are sub cultures/stereotypes and not ethnicities. I can't say "oh I'm part Jamaican, part cuban, and part goth." It just doesn't work that way.

BTW Not all southerners are redneck or hillbilly! Drives me nuts when people automatically assume that! Yes, I'm from Georgia... And yes, I do have a thick southern drawl... But no I'm not "redneck" or "hillbilly" 🙄.... Rant over!

Being a hillbilly is a way of life. Maybe your MIL is that proud of their lifestyle and how she raised her children.

No. I think they learn certain ways of life and stereotype and because of their personality, they may like or dislike one or another. This isn't something biological. It's learned from their parents and peers.

My dads side of the family are hillbilly rednecks. And they will proudly say this about themselves. So I say I'm Japanese and redneck sometimes.
