How can you spell your own childs name wrong? (Using my name in ex.) Rebecca is most common but if my mom spelt it rebbeka how does that make it wrong?

No....I went to starbucks and my name is Serenity the girl wrote on the cup Cerenity...Didnt offend me it was funny....My brother name is Carlos but its spelled Karlos and his teachers messed it up a few times 😂

My mom spelt my brothers name Patrik on his birth certificate (on purpose) and the nurse told her she spelled it wrong and my mom was like excuse me he's my child I will spell it however I feel

I think it's only "wrong" in the posts I see on here where somebody is trying to do those "Kate" pronounced "Jon-uh-thin" 😂 The English language does come with some basic phonetic rules, and while they can sometimes be bent, there is a point of breaking that just no longer makes any logical sense.

I think in the example you gave, it's because Rebecca is a biblical name and it comes from an actual Hebrew word that has an actual meaning in Hebrew. When you change the spelling of the name to have two b's, you're disregarding the Hebrew root word. You're basically making a new name that does not have any root. Technically there's nothing wrong with this, but if your mom meant to name you after the Hebrew name Rebecca, then she spelled it wrong.

Lol my dad has spelled mine Chrystal, and Cristal. I think he honestly forgets sometimes. As long as I can tell it's my name I let it slide.

A lot of names have a meaning. A lot are in different languages like take the Irish name Caoimhe, Caomh means 'gentle'. But if someone decided to try and be different and spelt it Cweeva' it wouldn't make any sense.
Same with most other names 😊✌🏻️

Mine name is misspelled all the time (lynzee). I even had one girl in a college class argue that I was spelling my name wrong lol
