Don't like the hospital my OB delivers at can I go elsewhere?

The hospital my ob delivers at has a less than stellar reputation.the one my ob delivers at isn't where I feel comfortable or want to deliver. I love my ob though. So, I'd like to go to a different hospital, (I have one picked out) I've made sure my insurance is accepted, they have a great reputation, people seem very happy with their maternity ward. I'm thinking where there's no gaurentee I'll get my OB when I deliver anyway because it's whoever is on call... why not.
But I don't really know how that works. Can I just go to that other hospital when I'm in labor? 
Anyone else done this?

If your OB doesn't deliver at the hospital then you will have to find another doctor that does.

Unfortunately a doctor has to be credentialed with the hospital, and most doctors are not credentialed with more than one. They dont have the option to just go anywhere and deliver. Both OB and the facility are so important, it would be hard to possibly only get the best of one and not the other.

I would switch OBs. I had to switch from a midwife that I absolutely loved!! They delivered at a terrible hospital though and I would be terrified to have a csection there or any type of premie care. Luckily I found a decent midwife but a wonderful hospital.

I switched OBs partly because I had a change in insurance and A LOT because I don't like the hospital where my first OB delivers. I'd suggest switching OBs so you can deliver at your hospital of choice AND have the same OB who sees you through the rest of your pregnancy. You could technically go to the hospital you choose when you go into labor, but you wouldn't get your regular OB at delivery.
