How does baby clothing sizes work?

Question

I have everything set in piles according to size, because I plan to keep bigger sizes packed away until he is big enough to wear them. I want to condense my piles but I'm not sure how they can be combined.
Pls tell me which ones my baby will wear roughly at the same time.
Newborn, 0-3month, 3month, 3-6month, 6month, 6-9month, 9month, 9-12month
Like, would I put 0-3month clothes in the same pile as newborn or would it go with the 3 month stuff?

P.S. I'm fully aware that some babies don't fit in certain sizes according to their age. I'm not really asking when your baby fit into a certain size or if they never fit in newborn. I'm more just curious what sizes can be combined because they're so similar

0-3 with newborn, 3 with 3-6, 6 with 6-9, 9 with 9-12.

Newborn is a little smaller than 0-3. Then in most cases if the size says 3 months it will be the same as 3-6m. 6m with 6-9m and so on. The frustrating thing is that every child fits clothes so differently. My 1st was skinny but long so we had to move her up in sizes for length but then her clothes would be baggy on her. I would say keep out your newborn and 0-3 clothes and see how your baby fits them.

I had newborn-6 months, then 6-12, 12-24. Even with quite a large gap there were still some outfits that didn't fit or that were worn only once or twice by the time I took them out of storage because baby sizing is crazy all over the place. My daughter is now 2 1/1 and fits into some 12-18 month stuff and some 4T! It depends on the brands.

And so on...always keep 2 sizes because those cute little stinkers grow fast XD

When I sort my babies' clothes we have them sort by 0-3months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months and then 9 months and up. Newborn we put into 0-3 months......I also look at the sizing of the clothes - if some of my 3 to 6 months look small I put them with the smaller sizes. I found by the time they where at about 6 month clothing they may need twos different sizes( shirts one size and pants another)
