Do I have to go to a gynecologist soon??

I'm scared I just turned 16 am I going to be forced to go I never had sex or problems down there I don't want to be touched & poked that's violation

I didn't go until I was 18. You really don't have to go until you're about 21 (when they start pap smears) or when you start having sex. As for "violating," your doctor is just trying to make sure you're healthy. If you don't want to go, then don't go. But you're taking a risk.

I was 16 when My mom and I decided I should be put on birth control. They won't poke or prod at you at such a young age unless you're having problems. Unless you plan on being sexually active or your periods are irregular then you shouldn't need birth control so I don't see any reason you would have to go.

Perhaps try going to your local health department for reproductive health services (birth control Etc.) most don't require you to have a Pap smear done unless you are sexually active or are a certain age(18+). I actually work in a health clinic and the providers (at our site, all women and nurses) are always happy to answer any questions for their clients pertaining to exams, birth control options, sexual counseling, STI/STDs Etc, and your information is always kept confidential. In Most health departments, such as ours, teens even have the option to keep their health information from being shared with their parents and don't have to have their parents consent to receive treatment or services from us (unless you give them permission to know your information prior by signing a release of information form allowing them to know). It's totally worth a shot! Hope this helps.

I don't think anyone likes going, I don't. But I'd rather go and make sure I'm healthy than not go because it's not the most comfortable thing in the world. And honestly it's not that bad at all and they're quick. Only takes a few minutes.

My first visit with my gyno he didnt even look at me down there it was just talking. Its not really a violation its for health reasons. I was a virgin when i went and started having pap smears done at 16 years old and have had them every year since. I would rather be healthy and know im ok. I knew a girl that was diagnosed with cervical cancer at 17 years old and she was able to treat it because she went and got her check ups. Your health isnt a joke its always better safe than sorry. I get being scared but it really isnt as bad as your imagining it to be.
