Seroquel?

Question

I started taking seroquel 300 mg 3x a day for my schizophrenia along with zyprexa 5mg & Remoron (anti-depressant). I quit taking it two months ago (all of it) and I had horrible withdrawal symptoms. it was terrible. it made me gain over 40 pounds when I used to be 116. it didn't even help. any suggestions on medications I should try for my mental illness? I have paranoid schizophrenia & depressing which is commonly associated with schizophrenia. I have cut for three years now. I was thinking geodon maybe.. suggestions?

Talk to your doc. Tons of psych meds out there. All about finding the best combo for you. Never ever a good idea to stop without starting something else. Medication holidays will only worsen your symptoms.

Please get off of Seroquel immediately in don't even understand how its still on the market! My mother won a law suit against them because it gave her diabetes. And geodon is no better, I took it as a child and it severely fucked with my liver

Never stop your meds without supervision from your doc! This is really dangerous, so many people do this and end up in the hospital, not to mention the withdrawal (which you report!) Normally, coming off a med you would taper to avoid this.

Anyways, there are a lot of antipsychtoics and you should tell your prescriber that you're not respond well to this one, have bad side effects, and want a better option. That is what they're there for! If your doc sucks and won't listen to you you can try to find a better one.
