Can newborns sleep in a regular crib right away?

I'm wondering if its even worth buying a bassinet since the baby won't sleep in it that long. How many of you let your newborns sleep in their cribs the first day home?

In my opinion bassinets are really cute, but totally a waste of money. My kids all slept in a crib the first day home.

My baby slept in his bassinet for the first three months beside my bed. You'll want your little newborn close to you at night when they sleep, especially with the frequent feedings.

It's recommended to have baby sleep in the same room as you at the beginning to prevent SIDS. They can sleep in the crib, but it should be in the same room as you! Especially so you can respond to breastfeeding cues 😊💕

My son had been sleeping in his own bed in his own room from the time I brought him home from the hospital. I believe that a bassinet is a waste of money and the only time he slept in the pack n play was when he would nap during the day. Plan on doing the same with my little girl when she gets here

I think it's just more convenient to have the baby in arms reach at night. My daughter had a rock n play sleeper for the first month and has slept with me since, she'll be 3 in August. But I know people who put baby in the crib immediately and have no issues. It's just preference.

When my baby sleeps during the day I use the crib but at night he sleeps in a rock n play by our bed because his room is on the opposite side of the house from ours.
