Birth control effectiveness

I read that birth control is only 91% effective in reality?? Meaning 9 out of a 100 woman get pregnant every year. I heard that it's almost impossible to have "perfect use" but I take my pill every day within the same hour or two. Does anyone know anything about any of this? Any help would be great :)
