Ungrateful much?

Do you think if someone has a babyshower, and nothing was purchased off their registries,  and all they receive is clothes , they have a right to complain? Idk if this is against the rules but I saw a post on a forum (may '16 babies) where a mother is complaining and basically bashing what she received . Said she was grateful then proceeded to rant on about how no one bought her a crib , etc and how she had to spend all her savings on a crib etc. Do you think people are obligated to purchase such espensive gifts for a kid that isn't theirs? I wouldn't afford a crib, bassinet etc knowing I have my own kids. It'd be easier for me to get clothes or blankets for someone else's shower. I was appalled at how many other mothers agreed with her and proceeded to complain about theirs too.

I always thought the big expensive items were meant to be bought by the expecting parents or sometimes grandparents. Little gifts like clothes,toys and nappies were given at baby showers. I mean that's what I've always even told and saw.

I don't think anyone is obligated to buy any expecting mother gifts, clothes, or diapers ect. It's just really nice if they do. I also think if people complain about what they got its extremely petty and rude.

It's her child, if she doesn't want to spend her savings on a crib then that's on her. There were no guarantees that people were actually going to purchase everything that was on her registry and I think it's childish for her to be upset about it. Kids are expensive, but I'm sure she already knew that.

It's no one else's responsibility to purchase big ticket items for your child. If you can't afford a crib or a car seat, etc how the hell are you going to afford the next 18 years of necessary items? And some things just aren't needs, like a swing or a diaper pail or a Johnny jumper.... Nice to have, yes, but if you really want them get them at a yard sale, don't expect others to spend $200 on a swing and then bitch when they don't. I don't have much use for people who are given gifts and then gripe about what they were given.

Bitch should be grateful. Only 2 people came to my first one and I was beyond grateful for the gifts they gave me! And when my best friends mom heard that everybody who said they were coming didn't show, she went out and bought me two more gifts, made me cry. It's not about the gifts it's about the fact that people took time out of their day to come to her shower and celebrate her baby with her, something I wish my friends had understood.

I don't expect anybody to get me expensive gifts especially friends or relatives that I'm not that close with. Now my parents and grandparents did buy all the big stuff for my daughter and gave it to me at my baby shower but I wasn't expecting it.

Yeah....she is ungrateful. She is lucky she was gifted anything at all. Some people don't have the luxury of having stuff given to them when they are expecting. I can't even comprehend how people can be so ungrateful. 😡

I'm hoping to lay blame to her being so ungrateful to hormones. I understand it can feel stressful feeling unprepared for your coming baby, but to complain about gifts? Being pregnant does not make you so entitled. I've heard people not have anyone show up! I could understand being so upset then since it's supposed to be a beautiful day to surround yourself around people you love to celebrate the new life.

Wow that sucks. Ya she sounds like a brat. She should be prepared to buy all that stuff. They didn't get her pregnant. Her responsibility!
On the flip side, I would be bummed if I didn't get anything from my registry. But I would NEVER say it out loud or POST it for the world to see!

I was Thankful anyone even came to it. It was basically family cuz my friends ditched with some lame excuses. I was grateful for anything no matter how small. I do think it's selfish and immature to complain when people don't HAVE TO do crap for you at all. No one purchased anything off my registry. And that's fine with me. :) I grew up being thankful for what I had and working for things so maybe that makes a difference idk.
