Breakup advice 😭

So my boyfriend and I were almost one year together(next week to be exact) and he broke up with me yesterday and he said "the spark" died and that he didn't want to be in a relationship he just wanted to be alone for a while and he's been going through some troubles in his family but I always told him that I'd be there for him and now he broke up with me but he said that he still loves me and hopefully a break is all we need and I really love him so idk whether to wait for him or to try and get over him. This is the first boy friend that I've ever cried for bc i really love him and it just hurts and we've still kept talking and asking each other how we are bc he still wants to stay friends but I told him I was just going to end up hurting myself bc I still love him and I don't know what to do 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
