Midwife or OB/GYN?

I just found out Sunday that I'm pregnant for the first time. Lots of questions going through my mind, but the most pressing is midwife or OB/GYN? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks :)

I love my midwife. The OB/GYN didn't seem to care or listen to any of my concerns or questions. My midwife however is very approachable and is willing to truly listen to either my concerns or desires. She doesn't push me into anything I don't feel is right for my baby and me.

I love my obgyn but also love the idea of a midwife. Come to find out my OB is prego too and will be out on maternity when I'm due. So that made my plan simple! Midwife and there is always an OB on call if they are needed.

Love my midwife practice! They're affiliated with a hospital, so if things get complicated, the birthing center is across the driveway from the hospital and they get you over there quick as you like. I feel like there are fewer unnecessary tests and checks, and are a great option if you're low risk. (I'm uncomplicated other than Group B positive)

I think it depends on the person (not you, the midwife or OB), I've heard great stories (and not so great ones) both ways. Maybe meet with one of each?

Check with your insurance that they cover both! While my insurance covers everything, they will not cover a midwife delivering my son which is fine because I hated the midwife at my OBs practice lol.

I'm 20 weeks and go back and forth with this all the time. I always wanted a midwife but I have had the same obgyn for a while, so I'm sticking with her .. Maybe for baby #2 I'll try a midwife :)
