Safe to travel during pregnancy ??

Sorry ladies I google it and got nothing so I'm wondering when is it NOT safe to travel during pregnancy?

Beyond 28 weeks is the standard "no fly" zone. Most airlines will not let you fly if you appear to be third trimester. There is a risk that the air pressure can cause contractions beyond that time. Honestly, driving is not comfortable either in the third trimester. Oh, and some airlines will give you a pass though if there is an emergency, and you have a letter from your doctor.

I'll be in my third trimester and going to Texas, originally going to fly but now we will be driving, my doctor is okay with it as long as we drive there and I'll also have an ob down there since I'll be there for a month. So talk to your ob get his or her approval, determine how you will get there and how long you'll be wherever you go. Goodluck!(:

After 28 weeks you need to see your doctor and get a fit to fly certificate from them - otherwise you are likely to get turned away from a flight as the airline won't risk something happening in flight. My doctor and midwife say that in a normal healthy pregnancy they'll provide fit to fly notes until around 34 weeks but many airlines have their own cut offs, so you need to check the policy of the airline you're planning to fly with.

I'm flying 12 hours at 16 weeks and then again at 22 weeks. Ask your doctor if you want to be sure but as long as you're healthy and not too far along, you'll be fine

There is no strict rule on traveling when pregnant. Yes some airlines won't let you fly with the past 28 weeks. I wanted to fly home to South Africa when I was around 25 weeks but my doctor said that it is not recommend to fly past 23weeks. The reason being that you are at risk for blood clots at the high altitude. Being pregnant you already have increased blood flow and he said being a higher altitude makes it even higher hence the risk of blood clots. He said even long car rides are no good. You should stop every hour to walk around. I think it's truly up to you and how comfortable you feel. I know of people who have flown at 30weeks with no problems. I didn't end up going home but it is ultimately your decision.
