Thoughts on fetal doppler?

Seems nice to have for times when I feel a weird cramp or things feel "weird" and I get worried. However, I can see the downside to having something like this. I guess it could become a bit obsessive, and what if I'm already worried and can't find the heartbeat one day? That certainly wouldn't help! Thoughts?!

I barely use mine now but it was definitely my saving grace earlier on. I'm ridiculously clumsy and a huge worry wart as well so any time I'd take a tumble and something would hit my tummy, I'd grab it and make sure little babe's heartbeat still sounded as lovely as ever. Some people make a big deal out of the price tag on them but honestly, the $40 I paid was a ridiculously small price to provide me with so much peace of mind. Now that I can feel her kicking all the time and as strongly as she does, the worrying has drastically decreased but I will always be all for the use of home dopplers!

I felt the comfort of having it outweighed the fear of using it.   That being said, even if you CAN maybe hear as early as 8 weeks, if your scared of not being able to find it, you may want to wait until 9 or 10 weeks when the baby is bigger and you'll most likely find it.    I also would buy a good one.   Buying a cheap one will add to the fear if you can't find it.   Also watch YouTube tutorial videos.  First time users will be shocked to find out how low they need to aim the wand!   Always use gel.   I find it easier to find on an empty bladder in the evenings.   So pick the same time daily to do it so it is similar conditions.   Don't do it while digesting food, sometimes it's hard to hear past all of the bowel sounds.   Use headphones too so you can listen for the HB better.   That's all the tips I have!   Good luck!   Ps... I use a sonotrax off of eBay.  $150 but worth every penny!!!!

I love mine!!! Worth every penny of the $35 I spent. I got it at week 10 and it helped ease my anxiety tremendously, I'm now 19w and only use it every so often since I can now feel my little man wiggling around. But I highly reccomend getting one, esp if you are a worry wart like me. Happy gestating to you!!! 😁💛

I was over the moon when I heard my baby's heartbeat the first time! So thrilling! Do keep in mind that a Doppler uses ultrasound waves, which, if used improperly, can overheat tissue. That's why most organizations recommend to only have ultrasounds when medically necessary. Definitely check with the doctor and midwife and ask about any risks :)

Still use mine every morning at 22 weeks. Even though I can now feel him, my husband can't regularly, so it's his way of connecting with the baby every day. 😊

During weeks 15-20 is when I used mine the most (I didn't get it until week 15) and it brought me more comfort than stress even if there were times I couldn't hear the heartbeat. Once he started moving regularly and stronger I stopped using it. I probably haven't used it in 4 weeks. Like another person said, I watched YouTube videos on the one I bought so I knew more what I was doing. 
And that little buggar is still way low down at that stage! Good luck!
