Drinking water (for weight loss)

I don't drink hardly enough water, mainly I'll just have a cup of tea (I'm from England) or coffee a few times a day, but I was wondering if anyone's started just drinking lots of water instead and whether you lost weight? I was thinking of trying it. 
Iv seen a few posts saying they lost weight from drinking lots of water so I'm curious to see if anyone's got any experience with it? Have you done that? Did it work?
