Beer?

So I breastfeed my baby and I know there's lots of controversy on this topic! I'm craving a beer so bad, would it be okay to have one beer?

Yes,  you can have a beer. I would ease into it with a little food, since your tolerance may not be as strong as you remember from before pregnancy. Also, you don't need to pump and dump unless you've had a lot of alcohol and you need to keep up your supply or you're engorged. The alcohol leaves your milk the same way it leaves your blood. It doesn't store up in your breasts for later, or something.

Yes, one beer isn't going to do too much. There are also test strips for breast milk to test for alcohol if you are concerned

I took a breastfeeding class and they said you can have a few drinks (I'm thinking 1-2 maybeee even 3 if you want to push it a bit) and that it'll have no effect on the baby. If you're worried, just pump and dump.

I'm 40+1 and really hoping this baby comes before Cinco de Mayo so I can have a marg!!

If you're like I was with my first post-pregnancy drink, you'll fall asleep halfway through the first beer anyway!

I drank dark beer to being my milk in. Just wait an hour for every drink you have, alcohol eaves your milk as it leaves your blood and you can use strips to test your milk and make sure it's gone.

My pediatrician actually recommended a beer to bring in your milk and increase supply. Just drink right after you feed, and give it time to break down before feeding again. If your worried, test with strips. Don't over do it but a good dark, yeasty beer is great for milk!!
