How to adjust to life with newborn???

Question

I've been fortunate enough to have my mother-in-law help me for the first week pp and my mom will be here until my son is 3 weeks (he 2 weeks today). My question is: how does everyone manage their schedules with a newborn? I am a ftm and already I'm worried about how I'll feed myself or just do basic things since I've had so much help! I don't know what I'm going to do once my mom leaves. I have a very supportive husband but he does work full time as well. Just wondering what tips have worked for anyone else.

And also, when did your baby start sleeping longer throughout the night???

I don't schedule. I get up and get my other kids out the door to school, if it wasn't too bad a night then I do some housework and if it was then baby and I snooze as we can. I'll worry about a schedule in a couple months when kids are out of school and I have to go back to work.

Schedule? We don't have one. If I wake up before her I get time to pee, and sometimes eat something, otherwise I feed her, we play, we try to put her to bed, she goes to sleep on me. I get nothing done :)

She wakes up, I feed her, we play, I try to put her to bed - yay! Works this time. I get the washing done and eat some food.

Repeat for rest of day.

My basic schedule (around my son's routine) he's now 16 weeks. My hubby went back to work after 2 weeks. Of course not every day is perfect LOL 
Wake up
Make coffee
Make toast or cereal for myself
Put dinner is slow cooker if necessary
Change son's diaper and set up nursing station 
Fill water pitcher and put pitcher and glass on end table
Drink coffee, eat breakfast
Feed son
Son's play time
Put down for morning nap
Do ONE house chore if son will sleep on his own
Son wakes up, diaper change
Play time
Lunch time for hubby (shower for me)
Lunch time for me
Lunch time for son
Put son down for afternoon nap
Do ONE house chore if son will sleep on his own
Son up, diaper change
Take son and dog outside to play 
Hubby is home
Dinner time
Family time
Son down for evening nap
Son eats
Bedtime

If I have a day where I can't clean during the day, my hubby doesn't care even a little bit and by this point I've taught myself that I am not superwoman and my hubby might work full time, but I'm now a full time ebf mommy and he can help clean if the house is desperate for it lol :) which he obliges, of course :) his motto is "baby first, house last" and that works for me!!

I'm also a ftm and have a 2 week old, he'll be 3 weeks on thursday. I basically have just learned anything you need to do do it while the baby is sleeping. I often forget to eat lunch because o get side tracked with the baby but anything else (cleaning, cooking, taking a nap, etc) I do while he's sleeping around his schedule.

Usually goes as the following at 4-5 am because we are all morning birds in my family. 
 -(usually an hour before daddy needs to get up)Get up get baby fed, change diaper and his day clothes. 
- put baby in swing or wear baby while mommy gets daddy started( the baby maybe asleep but usually is awake for an hour or two) fed and out before six so he isn't late for work. ( he is working full time plus over time so I can be a stay at home mom so the least I can do is make him breakfast and warm uniform for work)
- dad is off to work and mommy cleans up, flips laundry and takes trash out and check baby to see if hungry or wet. 
- We take our morning nap till 11 or 12 then get baby fed, changed and play till 2ish(lots of tummy time)
-lay baby down for evening nap and clean house while he sleeps. 
-around 4-5 daddy comes home and spends time with baby and unwinds.
-6 is dinner 
-7-8 bath time, feeding and reading and down for the night(bath time is every other day)
-9- mommy and daddy time till 9:30 then bed time for all of us. 
It doesn't always go as planned but majority of the it does. Good luck establishing a good schedule.

Go on pinterest and pick out crockpot recipes. Then get them to help you prepare it in one bag and freeze it. That way you won't have to worry about planning and preparing meals everyday

It took me a couple weeks to get the hang of things on my own. If you want to get anything done start as soon as they go down for a nap. You can multi task. I usually have to eat while I feed or I'll starve. It's a lot to get use to but once you get the swing of things it's not bad at all. I've just slowly been adding in housework and other responsibilities and some days you won't get everything done that you wanted. It's life, as long as your baby's happy the rest can wait

When you're by yourself, you'll be amazed with what you can get done. My lo is almost 7 weeks and loves her activity mat. It's amazing how many things I can do for the 15 mins she's on that thing. But I was freaked out about being left alone with her too... There's a learning curve but you will rise to the occasion!

Swings are your best friend! The rock n plau is awesome too! You can put it right out the bathroom door while showering
