Dog's flea & tick treatment

Hi ladies...as it gets nicer out there is more and more information about new ticks that are around. My husband and I were talking about doing our pup's flea and tick treatment but we haven't done it since I got pregnant and I'm not sure if it's okay to come in contact with it while pregnant. Our dog is very clingy towards me, and is always cuddling with me, so even if my husband is the one to apply it I will likely be exposed to it over the next 24 hours.

I have an appointment with my OB/GYN tomorrow and will ask, but wanted to know if any of you ladies have been doing your dog's flea and tick since getting pregnant. Thanks!
