How long should I wait?

So, I'll be starting birth control pill on Thursday or Friday. How long should I wait after starting it to let my SO finish inside me? I really want him to, but I want to know that I at least have a bit of a backup before that happens, obviously. Or, do you have any suggestions about more reliable forms of birth control (other than abstinence)?
