Stepmoms and Mother's Day??

Question

Does anyone celebrate Mother's Day as a stepmom? I am currently a step mom to a wonderful 5 year old boy. His mother is only in his life when she wants to be. I think of him as my own. But is it ok to celebrate Mother's Day as a step mom? It's such a grey area.

Absolutely!! My mom is actually my step mom and I get her something just like I should! I don't know my biological mother. And I don't want to now that I'm 30 yrs old. My stepmom IS my mommy just like you are that little boys mommy!!

We celebrate mother's day with my husband's stepmom. 
You may not have biological ties to the child but if you have any hand in helping raise them I think that deserves to be appreciated.

I'm not a step mom but I support those who are and I've said happy mothers day/ Father's Day to step parents the only difference is they chose to be there and be a parent without the sex then pregnancy then ya know they came into a ready made family and said yes this is what I want

We are closer to my husbands stepmother and not his real mother. His stepmother is the one who got a card this year. My grandmother got one and not my mom. Every family is different. Step moms, adoptive moms.... They all are moms 😊

I celebrate mother's day.  I am the only mom that my step daughter has. Her mom hasn't tried to see her in the last year and four months and her visits were very sporadic before that. I am active in my step daughter's life and have been for four years, so I don't see why I shouldn't celebrate.  If you play the part take the credit.

Long as you actually care about the kid and pretty much are his mom (at least in one of his homes) then no shame. I have a step mom, and I'm 20 and she's only been around for 2 years and I'll tell her happy mothers day. She's a mom. Not mine, but she's still trying.

Ive been in my step child life from 6mo and only this year did she give me a present she made me for mothers day. Last year my mom dad SO and brothers ex gf said happy mothers day to me. No one else sees me as a mother because i didnt birth that child even though we have plenty of step fathers(including my own father) in my family that get recognized on fathers day. My cousin that gets recognized for being a mother on mothers day to a cat that she has had about the same time i became involved in my step daughters life by everyone in our family but i take care of a child and that cant be left alone at home while at work and get no recognition. if you care for that kid as your own and do everything a mother would you are a mother. Celebrate it
