Maternity leave

I have so much respect for you American mothers waiting until you have your baby to start maternity leave.
I am 35 weeks and had to tell my boss I need to reduce my hours over the next 2 weeks as I am just so exhausted, pelvic pain is terrible, every time I stand up I need the toilet, my feet are swelling and I just feel uncomfortable all the time.
I wish I started maternity earlier now as it's draining me, but the thought of working another 5 weeks... Well I couldn't do it.
I also want to add I am 36 years old so age definitely plays a part in this, I know had I been 15 years younger it wouldn't be this exhausted (well according to friends who had a baby when in early 20's and then again in their 30's they said they felt a huge difference)
Oh and I'm from the uk 🇬🇧
