How long is comfortable, really, before returning to work?

I'm starting to think ahead with my current full-time job only allowing 3 months off (which seems less than works feel comfortable) so I'm wondering for those who have already experienced having just had a baby and returned to work. I'm sure this is a loaded question, but I'm wondering if it really will be a very unbalanced distribution. Thank you in advance!

I had 5 months and i rather stay home with my babygirl but it is also nice to see some adults.
