Disappointment

My boyfriend and I agreed that we wouldn't buy a crib because of our tight budget and the fact that I was pretty sure we would never use it, just a pack n play. We had talked about it before though so he knew what I had already liked. He randomly texted me telling me he bought a crib. I was a bit excited but worried also because that wasn't in our budget, and he didn't consult on me at all about buying it. He chose a crib that I PREVIOUSLY told him I hated. I hated the color and the shape, etc.  He said he didn't get a reciept also so we couldn't return it. Now the pieces just sit in the corner of our room since we never use it, we are thinking about regifting it to a friend. It's the thought that matters and even though it is a nice gesture, I just wish he would have consulted me first on what I would have liked because I personally dislike everything about the crib. We use our pack n play like originally planned. I feel selfish about it and my mother tells me I should be grateful he got anything and talks down to me about it even though I feel terrible and tell her it wasn't in our budget to begin with. It was just money wasted since we never use it! I guess this was just a little venting because everyone's making me feel bad about it.
