I have been teaching kids that they have to respect all adults but they don't have to listen to every adult with

I'm teaching my kids that. They have to respect all adults .but Thay don't have to listen to all adults explain to them the difference between listening to somebody that is good and listening to somebody who is a bad I gave them scenarios to explain to them what I was talking about. Does anybody think that I was wrong how do you think I did the right thing explaining
