Are some opinions are better kept to yourself?

Example - "I don't like [insert type of person, like Asian people, transgender people, dog people, gay people, red head people, etc]."

Example 2 - "I think [insert group] shouldn't have [insert rights]."

Example 3 - "I think [harmless so and so] should be separated from people like me legally because I don't like them."

I see these examples a lot here. Im not saying no one can have a opinion, but are some opinions just better kept to yourself?

Just because you can think it doesn't mean you can say it.

Also for anyone about to pull "freedom of speech"

Freedom of speech means the government can not penalize you for speaking your mind. However it doesn't mean you are free of consequence. People do not have to or need to host you or your opinions  this pic says it the best.

Yes, certain opinions you hold, you should just hush about. There is a time and place for everything, you can't just go around flapping your gums about everything and anything. Be polite and respectful to others.

Add to that list anything that involves one mother or (especially) almost mother going after another one because of what they feed their baby, how they dress their baby, how their baby sleeps or basically any parenting choice ever and I'm one billion percent in agreement that some opinions are just better not vocalized.

I think there's definitely ways of saying things and using your filter wisely 😂 If I didn't like something and was asked my opinion on it then I'd word it politely, I'd happily explain my reasons for this opinion. I wouldn't bluntly shout out a controversial opinion and try to offend people with it.

I didn't answer the poll, because I wanted to be careful. So, here's my answer. 
1.  Free speech should not be made illegal, so if people want to "spread hate", they can. 2.  I try to take people's feelings into account when I speak, but if I am telling the truth, and a person doesn't like it, it's not hate, and I may say it, depending on who is present. 
3.  I usually try to be respectful and considerate to the people who are present.

The purpose of a forum is to exchange views and ideas. So if opinions have no place on forums where do they have a place?

Just because someone expresses their opinion does not mean they are trying to spread hate and start trouble.
