Is lube safe ?

Since my SO is rather on the bigger side , we're going to try using lube .. Alot in that case. Question is , is it safe to apply it on my vagina ? Not inside but a generous amount on my lips at least ? Mind you, he will be lubed up too. I just dont want it to hurt ! He's the biggest i've been with so far
