Is any relationship better than none???

Question

I had this convo with my friend yesterday, my friend who never wants to be married or have a family, we were talking about something or someone and their relationship and I said "well any relationship is better than nothing" and she said "no not true".  I don't get it? I just feel like something is better than nothing like I would be in pretty much any relationship at this point (if the guy was cute).  I mean yes abuse is unacceptable but I also think that you can work things out and try.  I would literally put so much effort into a relationship if I got one now.

Ur better off ALONE than a bad relationship. Regardless of what kind of bad it is. Be it that ur no longer happy nor in love.  Be that he's abusive. Be that he's an addict that can't quit. Be that u tried everything and can't change him.  No,  it's never ok to be in ANY RELATIONSHIP rather than alone. 
It's BY FAR BETTER TO BE ALONE, THAN IN A RELATIONSHIP THAT U DON'T WANT TO BE IN.

I would rather be alone than be with the wrong person. My husband i can't live without. I went through that phase though where i didn't want to be lonely but you are deep down inside anyway

Have you not seen some of the things women post on her about their significant others? Not all terrible relationships are due to abuse, there are many other factors such as cheating, lying, etc. I'd rather be alone then be with someone who treats me or our relationship like shit. I've left relationships because I know I deserve better and I for one will not put up with bullshit. I've been single on and off till I met my husband who treats me as his equal, respects the hell out of me, stands by me, and obviously loves the shit out of me. 
It sounds to me like you have self esteem issues. Whether you're in a relationship or not shouldn't define you as a person.

I was a single mother for a few years mostly because I'm like your friend. I want the right relationship. I'll be independent and have my friends before I waste my time on the wrong guy.

I'd rather be alone than in just "any relationship." Just because they may be cute doesnt mean it will work out or that you two have anything in common. Being alone isn't horrible, and sometimes it's good for the soul. Being in a relationship j just to say you're in one or that you don't feel lonely is a stupid reason to be in a relationship in my opinion.

Being in an abusing relationship is just as bad as being in a "just because," relationship. 9/10 times nothing changes, it only gets worse. If you're willing to sit there and take it after a while just because you don't want to be lonely is sad, and I'm not going to stand by someone as they ruin themselves. I cut of ties with my best friend for 3-4 months because she willingly stayed in an abusive relationship, and I didn't feel sorry for her anymore. Thankfully, she got out before he killed her.

No. You're friend is right. Relationships are hard even with the right person. You pick the wrong person just because all u want is a relationship, then you are bound to end up unhappy and it will cause stress in your life that you could've avoided if you'd picked someone more carefully. Know who you are and what you want and don't settle for less.
