Postpartum Depression
Why does no one talk about this? Taboo perhaps but it's totally a real thing that no one wants to talk about. Before I got pregnant I heard about PPD and I thought how could someone be depressed when such a good thing is happening in their lives? It didn't make sense. Fast forward to myself now, 6 weeks PP, and I now can answer my own question. It's hard being vulnerable about these things because there's such a stigma with mental health but I'm just wondering if there's anyone else on this roller coaster with me? What affects me is lack of support (moved away from home, family and friends prior to pregnancy and husband works F/T) and with that comes the isolation of not having anyone around to talk to or just have that adult interaction with all day, trouble breastfeeding and a sometimes high needs baby. It's OK to not be OK, I know I'm not OK sometimes and it's hard to admit that because there's an immense pressure for first time moms... it's like people are just waiting for you to fail or point out your mistakes. Anyone else feeling this way?
