Our LO is here!

5 weeks early, but healthy as can be(thanks to this momma's gut instincts). I called the hospital on May 10th with a reduced kick count, on the way to the hospital he started moving like crazy and my boyfriend told me I might as well go back home, I decided not to listen. When we arrived at the hospital they were just going to monitor but I asked for them to do a urine analysis because I knew I had a history of high blood pressure and had done plenty of research. It came back positive for proteins and my blood pressures were averaging high 160's/100's. It was determined preeclampsia after a 24 hour urine analysis and my platelets were showing pretty low. I was admitted and put on strict bed rest. For the next 4 days my blood pressure was monitored and twice a day I was getting nst's and ultrasounds and blood work done. They gave me 2 steroid shots 24 hours apart to develop baby's lungs incase he were to come early. They put me on blood pressure medication and come Saturday, my blood pressure shot up to 178/109. I started hallucinating; first a small bright rainbow (the most vivid colors I had ever seen in my life) and then every person I would look at was missing half of their faces. It was terrifying when I realized I was going blind in my left eye. The doctor rushed in and started an emergency induction and 3 hours of labor and 4 minutes of pushing, little Eli was here as healthy as could be. Listen to your instincts Momma's! Had I not ignored the people telling me everything was okay and I should just go home since he was moving, I could have had a seizure at home, not gotten the steroid shots to develop his lungs, or even worse, lost him. It was a miracle I caught all of this on my own, but I just knew something was not right. Eli only spent 4 days in the hospital, 2 nights in the nursery and 2 with me in my room. Someone was watching over us and I am so thankful I had a healthy baby!
