How do you know when you are ready for a baby?

My husband and I have been married for a little over a month and are discussing a baby. I'm 26 and he is 36 so he wants to have one soon. I'm on the fence about it. How do you know when you are ready? Should I just stop taking my pills and wait for it to happen?

You will just know. Just make sure your both ready not just one of you... It makes all the difference

I would wait for a while. Give your marriage a chance to settle. Hubs and i got pregnant 6 months after our wedding and it was too soon. We're thrilled, don't get me wrong, but the first year of marriage is SO tough. We definitely could have benefitted from more time to focus on us without a little person. For reference, I'm 26 and he's 35

It's one of those things you just know. If your on the fence about it then maybe you aren't ready.. Don't talk yourself into something that your not 100% sure about.

If you're having reservations, that means you're not ready. Talk to your husband about it. Be open and honest. You don't want to just stop taking birth control, end up pregnant and then start resenting your husband or the baby because you were still unsure.

We knew we were ready when I had a pregnancy "scare" while on the pill. I had to wait over a week before I could get blood work done. We were actually getting excited about having a baby even though it wasn't the best timing. Then we found out the test was negative and were disappointed. That's when we decided to start trying.

Trust me you will know when you are ready. I felt a strong maternal instinct suddenly kick in and my desire to have a child was strong. It was something I knew I really wanted. If you don't feel like this then it is probably best to wait.

Me and my SO are the same ages as you guys, if you don't know you want one then you are probably not ready yet. I had secretly wanted a baby about 18 months before we discussed it towards the end of last year. With your partner being older -as with mine- they have then reached the stage where they want these things and the big 40 looms ever nearer. As soon as we discussed having a baby I was obsessed, I saw babies everywhere where i hadn't really noticed them as much before, I got jealous when I heard that women I knew were pregnant. When you are ready and you want it you will know. Doesn't mean you won't have concerns or be a little nervous but you will know above all you want a family. Maybe give it a year or two and you will get those feelings.

If you us have discussed future goals, expectations snd are financially stable then theoretically you're ready. Whst is holding you back because that's reason alone to wait if you feel you need to accomplish something or be in a certain place
