Does your first baby come early or late?

The reason why I'm taking this poll is because my husband is in the Middle East. I am 29 weeks pregnant and I'm due August 15th, I'm trying to postpone even the baby shower until the end of July. I just pray to God that he can make it on time for the birth and baby shower I just want to know your ladies opinions please.

My son tried to come early at 26 weeks. Once they stopped the labor he didn't want to come out when it was time. Finally showed up at almost 42 weeks.

I was told first babies usually don't come till later 40-42 weeks. But myself I had my son a 37 weeks due to preeclampsia. I know women who had their babies at 38 and 40 weeks.

I'm going to go out on the limb and say there's really no way to tell.

My first came early. I don't know if the doctors had me dated correctly though. He was 10 pounds and 3 weeks "early". My son would of been huge, maybe 12 pounds if he was born on his due date. I think it really depends on A LOT.

Everyone is different. I know first time moms that went 7 weeks early, other that went a week late. No way to tell. Baby makes that choice!

It all depends on when your baby is ready to come out. That you can't control. However, if you're worried about a baby shower, you can always have it after he returns and after the baby is born. It's a little unconventional but it sounds like you really want him to be a part of it so I'm sure everyone would be understanding and willing to wait. I was induced early at 38 weeks exactly due to pre-eclampsia. I'm adding this only because I was a first time mom and totally believed what everyone said that if be late, and when complications arise I was a hysterical mess, and wish I had prepared myself better for any possible outcome. I would plan your shower for earlier. If the baby comes early you wouldn't have all the gifts and supplies you'll get from your shower, and if the baby doesn't come early you'll still be setting things up pretty late and after 36 weeks in the heat all you'll want to be doing is lying on the couch with a Popsicle. I say have the shower earlier and then plan a little desperate celebration when dad gets home. Good luck and congrats!

My son was born the day before his due date. I wouldn't wait too long to have your shower, the last few weeks can be hard because you're going to be big, plus you want to see what gifts you get, so you have time to go buy the stuff you didn't receive

Mine came at 36 weeks due to pre-eclampsia issues, but if they hadn't decided to induce me then they would have induced me at 38 weeks bc she wasn't growing as well as they hoped. I think it depends on your body and what the baby wants.
