Nursing pain...HELP!!!
So I have a question...on May 2nd I had my beautiful daughter! I've decided to nurse but she was taken 3 weeks early by c section so my milk did not come in immediately. I attempted nursing in the hospital and my nipples are basically flat so when she would latch on, I didn't realize she was clamping down instead of latching on to nurse. The lactation consultant helped me realize the problem and by the time we realized what she was doing the damage had been done (she had blistered both nipples and they cracked and were bleeding)! I was instructed by lactation in the hospital not to nurse for a day to allow healing so I only pumped for those 24 hours. Anyway, I have increased my milk supply and I'm nursing and pumping now with no use of formula for supplement. My question is, my nipples are beyond sore!!! I'm using a lanolin free nipple butter (the lanolin burns my skin) after each time she nurses and after each time I pump, and this helps but I've got to find something that gets rid of this soreness! I like the fact that I can nurse my daughter but this pain is not getting better (everybody told me it gets better after a month)...any suggestions are appreciated!!!
