Back pain--heating pad?

I'm having pretty back upper to middle back pain. Hurts to sleep, take deep breaths, or just all the time really. Can I use a heating pad? Or anything else to relieve the discomfort and pain??

I just went to the ER last night over that type of pain. My pain eventually moved to my lower back. But the doctors told me to use heating pads and soak in hot baths without any bubbles or oils it could through your levels off. I've also been told by another mother to look up SI during pregnancy and it tells you a couple tricks to relieve the pain.

Yep, heating pads are fine to use. I had to use mine last night because my back pain was so intense that I could barely sleep.
