Stopping sex 3 months before wedding.

My fiance and I decided to stop having sex 3 months before our wedding which is the October 31-2016. We decided to do this to make our wedding night more special. Yes we have had sex before our wedding for 3 years. Most of our friends are saying that is stupid. Did anyone who is married have sex before they got married and then decide to stop having sex before their wedding? I was just wondering. Thank you
