Location of Bassinet?

Just want some opinions. My bassinet is quiet big and so it's not next to my bed it's slightly across my room actually. This is what it looks like.

It's a matter of personal preference. I have trouble falling back to sleep between feelings so for me, next to the bed works better because the less I stimulate myself while caring for the baby, the more sleep I'll get.

Mine is in the corner of the room at the end of our bed.  I don't think it's necessary to be right next to you

I asked a new mommy friend of mine about this today. She said that a bassinet was a waste of money for them. The baby's nursery is directly across from their room. After one night in the bassinet right outside of their bedroom door, they said to heck with it, and put her in her crib from then on. She has been great and slept through the night by 6 weeks. She is now 6 months. I'm going to take her advice.

I've had two babies before, and their cribs weren't next to my bed. This baby will be the first one who is, and the others were fine being across the room :)
