Question about toxoplasmosis 🤔
My boyfriend and I just rescued two 4-5 week old barn kittens from down at my grandparents. The mother had weaned them too early and didn't want to care for them any longer and my grandma feared that if they were left, that the wild dogs would get them and kill them or the heat would. Anyhow, is toxoplasmosis only spread through kitty feces or is it with urine as well? And would the vet be able to do a blood test to determine if they've got it or do they just plain and simply look at the possible symptoms? Right now all that they've got is conjunctivitis which is plain to see and they're due for the vet appointment tomorrow to get that taken care of but I'm wanting to ask about the possibility of finding out if they may have contracted toxoplasmosis as well. I'm nearly 27 weeks pregnant and just want to make sure that if I need to take extra care in handling their litter boxes, that I'm actually doing it, you know?
