Son problem

I need advice. My head hurts so bad from thinking about this. So I have an almost 13 year old son. Good kid honestly. He has always struggled to get good grades. There's always C's & D's. Occasionally A's and B's which would only be the simple and fun subjects. Last report card he did very bad. One A and B, the rest C's and D's. Grades went down a lot. I've talked to him about the importance of good grades and education. He has played soccer for 6 years already but doesn't seem interested in it anymore. My husband is manager at a landscaping company and has been taking him for 2 weeks already. He sais so I don't have too many kids at home.

My question is would you let him work when he doesn't want to do anything school related? He likes working. But I feel I shouldn't let him because of the attitude he has towards school. It's a cosntant argument with my husband. I really dont know what to do anymore.
