So what exactly happens at a 28wk appointment?

I have my 28wk Dr's appointment tomorrow (which should have been last week since I'm almost 29wks but had to reschedule bc of work) and for the first time it's not paired with an ultrasound! For me the ultrasound usually eats up the majority of the time and then the Dr talks about how the baby is doing, how I'm doing, measure my belly, maybe listen to the heartbeat with the doppler, then I'm done. But without the ultrasound as a prelude, what's gonna happen?? Is she gonna check my cervix? I heard that's really painful...any suggestions on what might happen tomorrow?
