Had my baby 6 days after my due date! June 23rd
I was due on June 16 and had him (today) qJune 23. (40 weeks and 6 days) I came in at 6am to the hospital to start my induction, around 10am my doctor broke my water and administered the pitocin. I was already at 4cm when I came in, at 3:30-ish the epidural finally came and i was at 5cm at that time but the contractions were so painful I just gave in when they offered it. Anyways, the epidural STOPPED WORKING about two hours after I had gotten it. So I ended up laboring to 8cm for 5 hours without an epidural because the anesthesiologist was busy with an unstable patient. Finally she came and re-did my epidural and I felt great. Well....I wasn't progressing from 8cm and let me tell you, we tried several different positions to get this baby to drop and have me dilate more but he just wouldn't budge, so several hours later nothing changed and my doctor insisted that I have a cesarean section. I was very hesitant about doing that because I had my heart so set on a vaginal birth, but things weren't looking good and my baby was becoming distressed. So to avoid possibly having an emergency c-section we went ahead and went to the OR within an hour. The procedure lasted less than an hour and my baby boy came out healthy and screaming! Although we found out he had popped in the amniotic sac, so thank God we went through with the cesarean because he could have ingested or inhaled the poop, but he didn't. (Thank GOD) Anyway I don't think anyone would read this but I loved reading other women's birth stoories so I thought I'd just post mine. 😀 *Edit*: When I say "we" I am referring to me and my husband.
Baby Jason was 7.14 pounds 19 3/4 inches. Born at 12:15 am.💙
