When a growth spurt happens...

Is it supposed to happen non stop until it's done? My baby has been having a weird week since last Friday. Friday afternoon he had a weird fussiness that lasted an hour or 2 in which he would bf but then he'd suddenly start crying...Saturday was good until night then he did the same for a bit...Sunday was ok...Monday was also ok but the past 2 nights he's been doing that except it was longer. Yesterday night it started around 11 something and didn't stop until 2:30 when he finally fell asleep. He was so tired and I'd feed him and all of a sudden he'd start crying so we pick him up calm him for a few mins then try feeding again and he eats and it happens all over. Sometimes I feel Like it's Bc of some food in eating (spicy or gassy foods) but sometime I'm thinking well this is around the 6 week mark (he turned 7 weeks on Monday) so maybe it's a spurt but I don't know
