Tri-Vitamin Liquid??? for the baby

I'm breastfeeding 100% and taking my daily prenatal vitamin, my baby is 3 weeks old and the pediatrician prescribed he start taking Tri-Vitamin Liquid.... My others kids did not take this, confused?? Is anyone else giving this to your baby??

We were also told to supplement but the ingredients in trivisol or whatever it's called are awful. We are looking into other options but for now just giving him a daily dose of sunshine ☺

Our pediatrician advised to give baby Ddrops. The only ingredients are vitamin D3 and coconut oil, but we used it for two days and it made my son gassy and uncomfortable. We stopped and are just doing a few minutes of sunshine daily. From what I read our diets are not our main source for vitamin d, sunshine is, therefore baby's do not have a vitamin d deficiency in their diets, but a sunshine deficiency. The Le Leches League had several research articles regarding vitamin d supplements that I would definitely recommend reading before making any decisions.

My doc jus told me I need to start giving it to my baby too. It's vitamin d drip tri•vi•sol. She said vitamin d is the only vitamin that's NOT in breast milk.
