Child support anyone?

I need to hear from people who have served their baby's father papers for child support. Did you end up regretting it? What was the outcome? Do he get revengeful and spiteful? Did he end up going for full custody? I don't know why but I'm freaking out

I did about 5 years ago. I laid it out straight saying I wanted it to be legit, I wouldn't have to hound him for money then and that there would be a legal paper trail for both his benefit and mine. I offered to set up the hearing to also include having a set schedule so I wouldn't be able to "keep his son from him" and it was all good. (Until last year when I took him back because he got a new job and his gf was pregnant... Better believe my son gets his 17% in full!) 😄

I have 3 children with my ex husband and he went to prison and I divorced him. When I went after him for child support they went off his income (in prison obviously he wasn't making a penny) they gave me $150/month ($50/per child) he got out of prison 6 months later and got a job. He then got another women pregnant and got married with a decent paying job. He now makes more and moved into a house with his wife and kid. He has visitation every Wednesday and every other weekend (minimum in the state I live in) now I am going after him for a review/modification  (3 years later) and he is pissed and harassing me about it because he can't give his new wife and child the life they deserve if he has to pay the correct amount for his 3 children he already had. It makes me so mad, we are still going through it. Child support is a huge pain in the ass but once it's over and you get the money your child deserves it's worth it. It's my fault for having children with such a horrible person. I love my kids though.

I regret it.. he's been on child support for 6 years.. haven't received anything until this year cause he got arrested.. now he wants to have visitation rights.. my kids are 6 and 8 and they don't remember/know him.. they don't even know what he looks like.. they don't know his name.. they don't even know he exists.. my husband is trying to adopt my kids but he can't because the other man is paying cs now.. I'm trying to get him off cs and no one is able to help me.. I'm so sick of it.. I just want him out.. idc what anyone says.. he is NOT going to see my kids.. I gave him so many chances to come see them,  to have a relationship with them.. he saw them ONCE and he spanked them cause they were being "bad" and he never came back again.. Maybe if they were younger I would still consider giving him a chance.. but they're not that little anymore.. and my oldest understands now.. and he has absolutely no interest in seeing him

I'm in the process and went for my meeting and was told they Can't do it cuz my ex is seeking 50/50 custody of my daughter. I just had to drop $2000 on a lawyer cuz of it. He also lied and said he only makes $425 a week when he actually makes around $800 pre-tax. He lives with his parents, his dad smokes in the home and they have a pitbull who is great with adults but not children. My daughters 10mths old all it would take is for her to grab that dogs leg, tail, or ear and she will get bit. There's also no bedroom for my daughter there. And he works 3rd shift which means my daughter would be in the care of someone else 2/3 of the day. So frustrating:-/

I did with my first born. It was a long, drawn out, ugly process with little reward. He only pays $230 monthly because he claims he can't get better work, yada yada. If I knew this would be the result, I would've saved myself the time (1.3 years) and agony. My suggestion is get all your paperwork in order and make an appointment with the free legal clinic through your county. They can help paint a quick picture on possible outcomes. From there, you can make an informed choice as to whether you want to put yourself through months of court appearances and waiting, etc. Good luck!
