How might antibiotics effect period and fertility cycle?

Hi friends, your insights welcome.  Any tips or heads up on what to expect when dealing with long lasting high potency antibiotics to kill an underlying infection?  I forgot to ask my doc about this today.  (Obviously we are waiting to conceive until this is resolved.)

I was also on antibiotics for a similar situation, for two years. Getting pregnant while on them is a huge no-no because it can cause birth defects and high risk pregnancies. It never affected my period though. I went off of them 2 months ago because I'll be ttc by this time next year and I want to ensure there is no trace left in my system. I'm surprised your doctor didn't discuss this with you, mine insisted I be either sex free or use extreme caution to prevent pregnancy while taking them.

It depends on the medication, but generally, as long as you're not taking it while you're pregnant or within your tww there will be no affect on the fetus or pregnancy. I hope you feel better soon.

I actually have a throat infection and was prescribed antibiotics yesterday and I told the MD I was trying to conceive and basically told her I was in my fertile week and she assured me the antibiotics she prescribed were safe while ttc and pregnant.
