Is it selfish?

Question

Question for you ladies.
Well for starters, were a military family. So were never in our home state, and my family as well as his, misses out on alot. But my question is, Is it selfish for me to want it to just be my husband and i in the delivery room? My mom and his mom want to come when the baby is born but there's some issues going on and it's just stressing me out. I feel like I shouldn't have to be stressed out about people coming. So I asked my husband if it would be fine if they just came like the week after the baby is born and he supports my decision. Is that wrong to do?
I also feel like it might be more meaningful if it's just him and i, and I wouldn't have to worry about anything other then my baby and my husband.

In the room. Maybe to visit once everything has calmed down. 
But too much "support" can be stressful.

I'm doing the same thing and never once thought it was selfish. My husband and I created this beautiful little life together, and it's only right that he and I welcome this little man into the world just the two of us. Everyone else can wait! :)

Not at all. We are a military family as well and were in the exact situation. After our baby was born I requested no overnight guests for at least a month. I needed time to figure out what i was doing. If your a FTM mom, you'll need it. Lol. I didn't want an audience. Our family respected that and there were no issues.

We are also a military family. I feel like child birth is a very personal thing and with both my children and my son that is due in October we made the decision to only have ourselves there for atleast the 1st 24hrs. Our first i was in the hospital for 3 days so it was 24 hrs. With my 2nd it was that we would have visitors after we were home and comfy. And the next the same. My mil INSISTED she be in the room, like you though, hubs totally had my back. Which is nice. I say do what makes you comfortable as it is your family and your choice. If you do decide to stay with your (Unselfish in my opinion) choice, know that you wont regret it and it will make it more memorable (in my opinion again) for your hubs and yourself. So... to answer your question, no, i dont at all think its selfish as ive made the same choice and neither of us have any regrets. Congrats!

First time mom and military wife as well. Both of our parents are coming when our son is due. For both of them it's their first grandbaby, and I have no problem with them being there. However, my husband will be the only one in the delivery room with me. My MIL actually stated that they weren't coming unless I was comfortable with them being there, and was not inviting herself into my delivery room, which I found to be really sweet of her.
It's not selfish. It's what you're comfortable with and they should understand that your wishes, preferences and decisions should be honored.

You do what you want to do! Don't add more stress to the delivery by having people there to spare some feelings. Ultimately it's your baby and your delivery. Have a great one!!
