Can ex's still be friends?

So an ex of mine who I haven't dated in forever called me today but we have remained friends.

I guess it's true what they say, you never know what you have til it's gone huh?

Well we're on the phone and he's pretty much saying I'm the only girl he can ever see him self with that he can actually be faith too.  HA I laughed so hard Bc years ago when I wanted that from him he refused.

Now that I am in a wonderful relationship with a wonderful amazing guy, who I want to spend the rest of my life with. I can't help but appreciate him more, Because I know I would not leave him for an situation.

My question is: do I tell my BF about the conversation or do talk to my ex about respecting boundaries?

Both. I would tell this amazing guy of yours what ex said and maybe you should break the friendship off the the ex. The ex wants you back. Sounds like that's not a friendship. On his end not yours.

I'm not friends with any of my exs for that exact reason. Out of respect for my relationship I would never want to be put in a situation that could look wrong. I say if you are serious about your boyfriend I would tell him what your ex said and cut all contact with that ex.

Sounds like you are really happy in your current relationship and have no interest in your ex. If you were very clear about that with with your ex, it might even be reassuring to your bf that you solidly chose him over your ex even when presented with a chance to backslide. But it depends on your bf, if he's more the type to be bothered by this or take you telling him as a sign of something, that's a different story. If you're worried about how he'd react (now or finding out later) another thing you could do to further your innocence is break off contact with the ex. But I'd at least talk to him about boundaries.

Both. But to be honest hun I don't believe exes can be friends. I'm in a Similar situation with my husband and he and 3 of his exes are friends they called n talked alot and to be honest I'm so uncomfortable with it and it hurt. It's a hard thing to deal with you will always be wondering and you don't want your partner to feel like that.

Talk to your ex about respecting boundaries, he should understand that if he wants to remain friends he will respect your relationship. Now I'm not saying to lie to your partner in any way, but I wouldn't tell him about a meaningless conversation with an ex unless he says anything like it again after you've warned him off, there's no point making your partner worry if there is nothing to worry about.

If he's an ex and you feel that way about your current s/o then I don't see how or why your ex serves any purpose in your life anymore, especially after admitting that to you. And yeah it'd be smart to let him know now cus if it came out later down the line it could be perceived in a different way than what it was meant to be.
