What is average cost of newborn photo session?

What is everyone paying for a newborn photo shoot? I just got a quote back from a photographer for almost $2,000 and fell out of my chair. My price range is more like $350-500.

Omg that's a joke, that's wedding photo prices lol mine is $400 and I get all the photos and rights to them.

I mean, I'm a pretty decent photographer myself. Not a professional though but as a graphic designer I understand the cost of talent and appreciate it.

But yeah they quoted $475 for a one hour shoot (for twins) and then $75 per digital photo or I could buy all of them for an additional $1500.

That's like not even within the realm of possibility for our budget. Guess I'll be trying to do them myself! 😑

That's a lot, however it's a lot of work tbh. I did photography for a few years and we always tried to keep our prices reasonable. But I personally wouldn't pay more than $300. They are expensive because newborn shoots are long, messy, loads of editing to do, and you have to be ready and free to do them within a short time frame.

I am paying $1,000 for four sessions, her newborn photos, 4 month, 8 month and 12 month photos and we get 30-50 digital releases with each session. The price they gave you seems ridiculous, that was more than I paid for my wedding photos!

Our session is $495 for a 4 hr session a few photos including my husband and me and we get 30 digital photos. This was pretty middle of the road price wise for my area.
