So I had a chemo port placed three months ago. I have Crohn's disease and get infusions every 6-8 weeks and I have frequent blood draws. My veins have gotten worn out from 17+ years of this and since I have had it placed it has been a complete life changer. In a good way. But the incision site has now opened up twice. My body is rejecting the dissolvable stitches that my surgeon placed in me and it is creating absces after absces. My surgeon is completely stumped. Each time an abcess is created the hole gets bigger. Thankfully the port is not poking out from the hole. He told me on Friday night at 9 pm that in all his years of practice he has never seen someone had the reaction that I am currently having to the dissolvable stitches. I can't wait until his office opens up on Tuesday so he can dig out the rest of what is left of the stitches. I'm totally scared that he is going to want to take out the port all together.
